A repeatable pre-trip and on-water workflow.

Before leaving

Check marine weather/alerts, tides/current, fuel, batteries, navigation lights, communications, PFDs, first aid, required permits and current fishing regulations.

Tackle

Pre-tie leaders and rigs; inspect line; pack spare hooks, swivels, sinkers, jigheads and leader; organize lures by water depth.

Live bait

Prepare livewell before loading bait; confirm pump/aeration; avoid overcrowding; carry dehooker and bait net.

At the spot

Observe current, bait, birds, surface activity and sonar before choosing presentation. Start simple and change one variable at a time.

After the trip

Rinse tackle appropriately, inspect corrosion/line damage, recharge equipment, record productive depth, lure/bait, current and conditions.
