Step-by-step build instructions

  1. 1

Clip the bobber onto the line at the depth you want (2–5 ft).

  2. 2

Tie a small hook to the end of the line.

  3. 3

Pinch 1–2 split shot 6–12 in above the hook.

  4. 4

Bait the hook with a piece of worm or a cricket.

  5. 5

    Cast near cover and wait.

  6. 6

When the bobber goes under, reel the slack and lift.

BigJoe Tips

  • Use just enough shot that the bobber floats upright.
  • A small bobber shows bites better.
  • Move the bobber to change depth until you find fish.
  • Great first rig for kids.

Variations

  • Spring bobbers or pencil floats for light bites.
  • A small jig instead of a bare hook.
  • Bread or corn for tilapia where legal.
  • Bigger float and hook for catfish.
