Prop Bait (twin-prop)
A floating topwater with spinning props at each end that spit and churn when pulled, a deadly trigger for butterfly peacock bass.

How to fish it
- 1
Cast to points, rocky banks or schooling fish and let the rings settle.
- 2
Pull the rod tip down sharply 1-2 ft so the props spit water, then reel up the slack.
- 3
Pause a second or two between pulls; for peacock bass, faster and louder rips often draw more strikes.
- 4
When a fish hits, keep reeling until it is tight, then set with a sideways sweep.
BigJoe Tips
- Upgrade to stronger hooks and split rings; peacock bass hit hard and fight dirty.
- If a peacock misses, keep working the bait; there is often more than one fish nearby.
- Retie after a few fish; peacock bass teeth are small but they rough up the leader.
Mistakes to avoid
- Reeling it straight like a crankbait; the pause is when many hits come.
- Setting at the splash before the fish has the bait.
