How to fish it
- 1
Cast it out and take up the slack, keeping the rod tip pointed down.
- 2
Make short, rhythmic downward twitches while giving a little slack between each one.
- 3
Reel just enough to pick up slack so it glides left, right, left in a steady rhythm.
- 4
When a fish blows up on it, wait until you feel the weight before you set the hook.
BigJoe Tips
- Use a loop knot or split ring; a stiff connection makes it hard to walk.
- The slack line between twitches is what makes it walk; do not pull it tight.
- If fish keep missing it, slow down or pause it; the strike often comes when it stops.
Mistakes to avoid
- Setting the hook on the splash before the fish has the lure.
- Keeping the line tight so it just slides straight instead of walking.
