How to fish it
- 1
Cast close to cover and let it sink to the depth you want.
- 2
Reel slowly with an even pace; each turn or two should swing the head to the other side.
- 3
Add a quarter-turn of the handle or a small rod snap to make it turn hard and flash its side.
- 4
When a big fish follows, kill the bait for a second, then give one sharp twitch to trigger it.
BigJoe Tips
- Slower is almost always better; the bait should look lazy, not rushed.
- Glide baits draw a lot of follows; use them to locate big fish, then switch to a smaller lure if needed.
- Check hooks and rings often; heavy lures and big fish bend cheap hardware.
Mistakes to avoid
- Reeling too fast so the bait just swims straight like a crankbait.
- Using a light spinning rod that cannot cast or work a heavy glide bait.
