How to fish it
- 1
Tie it on with a small ball-bearing swivel a foot or two up the line to stop line twist.
- 2
Cast across or slightly upstream and let it sink a second or two to reach the depth you want.
- 3
Reel steadily just fast enough to feel the blade thumping; slow it down near cover.
- 4
Most fish hook themselves; keep reeling steady when you feel the hit.
BigJoe Tips
- Give the reel a sharp first turn after the splash to get the blade spinning.
- Pinch the barb down for easy release of small sunfish.
- In rivers, swing it through the tail of a pool on a tight line.
Mistakes to avoid
- No swivel, so the line twists into a mess.
- Reeling so slowly that the blade stops spinning.
