OFFSHORE TROLLING & TEASERS
Jet Head Lure
A heavy chrome bullet head with holes that shoot bubbles, plus a skirt; it runs straight and stays in the water at fast speeds for wahoo and tuna.

How to fish it
- 1
Rig it on single-strand or cable wire for wahoo, with the hook sitting at the end of the skirt.
- 2
Run it from a flat line or the shotgun position, where its weight keeps it from skipping out of the water.
- 3
Troll faster than for regular skirted lures, often 8-12 knots or more; jets keep running straight where lighter lures blow out.
- 4
Work drop-off edges and banks in zigzags; when one hits, slow down and look for more fish in the same spot.
BigJoe Tips
- Wahoo hit hard and fast; keep drags set firm and the rod in a holder until the fish is solidly on.
- Check wire for kinks after every fish; a kinked leader can break on the next one.
- A jet in the shotgun spot (far back, center) often gets the bite when the outrigger lures don't.
Mistakes to avoid
- Using mono leader in wahoo country; their teeth cut it instantly.
- Trolling it so slowly that it sinks and hangs with no action.
