How to fish it
- 1
Cast it up-current of a dock, mangrove point or bridge shadow.
- 2
Let it sink and drift naturally with the current on a semi-slack line.
- 3
Give small twitches or short hops to make it look like a shrimp kicking away.
- 4
When the line jumps or goes heavy, reel down and set with a firm sweep.
BigJoe Tips
- Less is more: let the current do the work and keep twitches small.
- Under a popping cork it becomes a great beginner rig over grass flats.
- Many guides fish it on the night outgoing tide under bridge lights for snook.
Mistakes to avoid
- Jerking it hard like a jig; real shrimp do not move that way.
- Setting too early on a light tap; wait for weight on the line.
