Parks & rules

Data rule: Islands, rocks, marinas and boat ramps come from OpenStreetMap. Marine parks come from the World Database on Protected Areas. Fishing spots are only placed on mapped islands and rocks, and never inside or next to a no-fishing area. BigJoe does not invent coordinates.

Banks, islets and the Atlantic side

Martinique's south coast has a line of shallow banks off Sainte-Luce and Le Diamant (Banc du Singe, Banc Major, Banc du Mitan, Grand Caye) that hold snappers, groupers, jacks and barracuda. The Atlantic side is lined with islets and reef flats from the Caravelle peninsula down to Le Vauclin and Sainte-Anne. On the Caribbean side of both islands the water drops off fast, and boats fish the offshore FADs for wahoo, tuna, mahi-mahi and blue marlin. In St. Lucia, the rocks and reefs off the east and south coasts are good inshore spots, and charter boats out of Rodney Bay and Castries run offshore for big game.

Many reefs and islets in both islands are marine or nature reserves where fishing is limited or not allowed, including the Pitons and Soufrière area in St. Lucia. They show in red on the map.
