Big bass and big stripers
Texas is built for bass fishing. Lake Fork has produced most of the state's biggest largemouth, Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend host the biggest tournaments, and Falcon, Amistad and O.H. Ivie can turn out giant fish when the water is right.
Lake Texoma is famous for striped bass that reproduce on their own, and the Oklahoma reservoirs add crappie, white bass, catfish and spring paddlefish.
Rules: Texas requires a fishing license with a freshwater endorsement, many Texas lakes have special bass length limits, and Oklahoma has its own license. On the border lakes, stay on the U.S. side unless you have a Mexican license.
