Parks & rules

Data rule: Islands, rocks, marinas and boat ramps come from OpenStreetMap. Marine parks come from the World Database on Protected Areas. Fishing spots are only placed on mapped islands and rocks, and never inside or next to a no-fishing area. BigJoe does not invent coordinates.

The Saba Bank

Southwest of Saba lies the Saba Bank, one of the biggest undersea atolls in the world: about 60 km across, mostly 20 to 50 m deep, with its edges dropping into deep blue water. It is a famous fishing ground for snappers, groupers and big pelagics, and it is a protected national park where fishing is managed. Around St. Kitts and Nevis, the reefs off the Southeast Peninsula and the Narrows between the two islands hold jacks, barracuda and snappers, with wahoo, tuna and mahi-mahi offshore.

Parts of the Saba, Statia and St. Kitts & Nevis marine parks are closed to fishing. Check the marine park layer on the map.
